Authorities Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Afghan Refugees in KP
Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have intensified operations against illegal Afghan refugees, detaining a significant number for violating immigration laws. Police in Jamrud Tehsil arrested over 50 Afghans, with further actions expected as operations continue.

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have stepped up efforts to detain Afghan nationals residing in the province without legal documentation. The intensified crackdown follows recent border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
A city police official stated that law enforcement agencies have launched a targeted operation against Afghan refugees who are in violation of the Foreigners Act. The official noted that police have conducted raids across various locations in the city, detaining individuals found to be staying illegally. However, the official added that the process of compiling the total number of detained Afghan nationals is still underway.
In Jamrud Tehsil of Khyber district, police reported the arrest of more than 50 Afghan nationals during search operations in different localities on Saturday. According to police, these individuals were found to be residing in the area without proper documentation. The detained Afghans have been lodged at the Jamrud sub-jail, and officials indicated that they will be deported after the completion of necessary legal procedures.
Sources suggest that the crackdown is part of a broader initiative to address the issue of undocumented foreign nationals in the province. Police emphasized that the operations are ongoing and further actions may be taken as authorities continue to identify and detain individuals violating immigration laws.
"Police had raided places all over the city and detained illegal Afghans," a city police official said, adding that figures of those detained are being compiled.
Officials have not yet released comprehensive figures regarding the total number of Afghan nationals detained across the province. The situation remains fluid as law enforcement agencies continue their operations in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
