KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department’s Steering Committee has finalised the timetable for the 2026 board examinations and mapped out the academic calendar for schools across Karachi and the wider province.
The schedule was approved during a meeting chaired by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah. Under the plan, annual matriculation exams for classes IX and X will begin on March 31 following Eid, while intermediate examinations are set to start on April 15.
The committee confirmed that the 2026–27 academic session will commence on April 1. Matric results are due to be released on June 1, with intermediate results to be announced on June 15.
Implementation of the Uniform Examination Syllabus has been deferred. The revised syllabus will now be introduced for classes IX and X from the 2027 annual examinations instead of this year.
Summer and winter vacation dates will remain unchanged. Summer holidays will run from June 1 to July 31, while winter break will be observed from December 22 to December 31. Officials stated that any revision to the winter schedule would require further deliberation in a separate meeting planned for April.
A proposal to adjust the winter holidays was considered but ultimately set aside after representatives of Cambridge schools opposed altering their academic calendar, citing the need to stay aligned with international timelines.
