KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the FIA’s National Cyber Crime Wing and several banks regarding a petition challenging the freezing of bank accounts belonging to former president Arif Alvi and his family.
During the hearing, Barrister Ali Tahir, representing the petitioner, stated that the comprehensive freezing of the accounts has severely affected Dr Alvi and his family, leaving them unable to manage their daily expenses.
The court observed that notices will be sent to all relevant parties to seek their responses. When questioned about his fee, Barrister Tahir clarified that he is handling the case pro bono.
Separately, the SHC has requested details from the Federal Board of Revenue concerning a petition about the sealing of a private juice manufacturing company. The petitioner’s lawyer claimed that the factory was sealed and later unsealed, while the FBR Directorate confiscated a large quantity of products during the operation.
