Jackal attack injures family members in village
A jackal attack in Nooriabad injured three family members, including a 15-month-old infant. The incident highlights rising human-wildlife conflicts in rural areas.
NOORIABAD: Three people, including a 15-month-old infant, were injured after a wild jackal entered a house and attacked residents in the Nooriabad area of Jamshoro, local residents said on Monday.
The incident took place in a village near Jokhia Mor in the hilly region of Nooriabad. The injured include a young girl, a woman and her husband, all of whom were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
According to residents, the jackal attacked the infant first, biting her on the face and causing serious injuries. The animal fled the house after family members raised an alarm.
District Health Officer Peer Ghulam Hussain said the injured individuals were given the first dose of the anti-rabies vaccine as a precautionary measure.
The incident has renewed concerns about human-wildlife conflict in rural and hilly areas, where residents have reported an increase in encounters with wild animals in recent years.
