DUBAI: Dubai has announced the launch of the Dubai Gold District, a major new project aimed at strengthening the emirate’s position as a global centre for gold and jewellery trade.
As part of the initiative, Dubai will also develop the world’s first Gold Street, a road constructed entirely from gold and designed as a landmark tourist attraction in the Deira area.
Officials said the district will integrate retail, wholesale trading, bullion and investment activities within a single, unified ecosystem for the gold and jewellery industry.
More than 1,000 retailers are expected to operate within the Dubai Gold District, underlining the emirate’s long-standing reputation as the City of Gold.
Authorities said details regarding the design, layout and precise location of Gold Street will be revealed in phases.
A UAE government official said the Gold District and Gold Street would reflect both Dubai’s commercial heritage and its standing as a global hub for gold trading.
