Five, including two children, killed as car hits tractor-trolley in Daska

SIALKOT: Five people, among them two young children, lost their lives and one man was critically injured when a speeding car crashed into a tractor-trolley in Daska on Sunday, rescue officials said.

According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred near the Muhabbat Khan petrol pump when a fast-moving Suzuki Cultus slammed into a tractor-trolley that was parked along the roadside. The impact left the car badly mangled, trapping the occupants inside.

Rescue workers used cutting equipment to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. The deceased were identified as siblings Izza, aged three, and Zaman, aged six, along with 36-year-old Salman, 58-year-old Islam and 29-year-old Imran. Another passenger, 33-year-old Sohail, sustained serious injuries and was admitted for treatment.

District Emergency Officer Engineer Naveed Iqbal visited the scene and reviewed the rescue operation. Family members of the victims told officials that they were returning home after attending a birthday party when the crash occurred.

In a separate incident on the same day, one person was killed and three others were injured in a road accident in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed tehsil of Kot Addu.

Rescue sources said a motorcycle rickshaw went out of control after one of its tyres came off, colliding head-on with an oncoming mini Mazda truck. The collision proved fatal for a 55-year-old man, who died on the spot.

The injured included his 30-year-old son Muhammad Fayyaz, daughter-in-law Asma, aged 32, and their three-year-old son Azan. Rescue teams provided first aid at the site and shifted the injured to THQ Hospital Chowk Sarwar Shaheed.

The deceased in the Kot Addu incident was identified as Muhammad Mushtaq, son of Muhammad Baqir, a resident of Chak No. 393 TDA, Gola Adda, Chowk Azam. Authorities said investigations into both accidents were under way.
