Islamabad introduces new rules for private schools

ISLAMABAD: The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has introduced a fixed annual schedule for the registration and renewal of private educational institutions in the Islamabad Capital Territory.

Under the new system, all private educational institutions must submit their renewal applications between March 1 and April 30 each year. PEIRA will process these applications by June 30, with inspections being conducted, if necessary, during May and June.

Institutions seeking new registration can submit their applications at any time during the year. However, new registrations will only be approved up until April 30.

Additionally, PEIRA has approved an option for schools to extend their renewal period from two years to three years. This extension is contingent on the advance payment of annual renewal fees for the entire period and adherence to regulatory requirements outlined in the 2024 rules.

These changes are part of efforts to streamline the registration process, reduce regulatory fee losses, and ensure the updated schedule aligns with the interests of stakeholders. The decisions were made in accordance with the Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2013.
