LAHORE: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has unveiled the Chinese Government Scholarship – High-Level Postgraduate Program 2026 (Type B) for students pursuing Master’s and PhD degrees at Tianjin University. This fully funded scholarship is open to outstanding Pakistani students in fields such as engineering, sciences, management, humanities, and social sciences. The application deadline is January 18, 2026.
The program is designed to attract exceptional international students and offers an excellent opportunity to study at one of China’s leading universities. Tianjin University offers 104 Master’s and 125 PhD programs, including 29 Master’s and 55 PhD programs taught in English. The scholarship covers full tuition, accommodation or housing subsidies, medical insurance, and a monthly stipend of CNY 3,500. However, international airfare is not included.
The scholarship is granted for the full duration of the degree, contingent on the student maintaining satisfactory academic progress. HEC clarified that it will not bear any financial responsibilities, as all costs are covered by the Chinese government.
Applicants must meet specific academic and language requirements. A minimum GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 is required, and PhD candidates must have at least one published research paper. For English-taught programs, applicants must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 80. For Chinese-taught programs, a minimum HSK Level 5 is required. Applicants must also meet the academic and language criteria set by their chosen program.
