‘I hate men who marry a second time’, says Behroze Sabzwari

KARACHI: Veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari criticized men who marry for a second time while their first wife is still alive, drawing both attention and controversy. In a recent TV show appearance, Sabzwari called a man’s first wife “a blessing from God” and questioned why anyone would choose to complicate their life by seeking a second marriage.

He even made a lighthearted comment about TV host Iqrarul Hassan, joking that if he remarried, “people would be left wondering how to react.”

However, his comments didn’t go unnoticed on social media. Fans and critics quickly pointed out the glaring irony of his statement, considering his son, Shahroz Sabzwari, had divorced his first wife, Syra Yousuf, to marry actress Sadaf Kanwal. Many found the actor’s moral stance contradictory and hypocritical, pointing out that his own family did not follow the values he preached.

The backlash on Twitter and Instagram highlighted this apparent double standard, with users questioning the credibility of his advice on loyalty and marriage. While some still appreciated his candid perspective, the majority couldn’t overlook the contradiction between his words and his family’s actions. This incident has sparked a renewed debate in Pakistan about public figures offering relationship advice when their own personal lives tell a different story.
