LAHORE: A 100-ton consignment of relief goods for the Palestinian people was dispatched from Allama Iqbal International Airport through a special flight on the directive of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

The consignment was sent under the supervision of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Talha Burki and Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Sohail Shaukat Butt and coordinated by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

According to officials, the relief goods include medicines, tents, blankets, and water containers. SAPM Talha Burki said that with the latest shipment, the total humanitarian assistance sent from Pakistan to Gaza has reached 2,527 tons. He said Pakistan has so far dispatched 26 relief consignments to Gaza in view of the urgent needs of the Palestinian people. The country’s continued assistance, he added, reflects its unwavering commitment and strong cooperation with national and international humanitarian organizations.

Talha Burki thanked NDMA for making timely arrangements for the immediate dispatch of the relief goods. He also appreciated the support of all welfare organizations, particularly Alkhidmat Foundation, for their active role in the relief effort.

He said Pakistan has always stood firmly with the Palestinian people, and the ongoing humanitarian support reflects Islamic solidarity, shared values and a sense of moral responsibility. He prayed for lasting peace in Palestine and for the safety and well-being of the resilient Palestinian people, expressing hope that the relief flight would safely reach its intended recipients through Egypt.
