Rajab Butt, Nadeem Nani Wala granted 10-day protective bail after they surrender in court

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted a 10-day protective bail to YouTuber Rajab Butt and TikToker Nadeem Mubarak, known as Nani Wala, on December 10, 2025. The court’s decision follows their surrender in connection with multiple cases involving gambling apps, cybercrime, and other charges.

The bail was approved by Justice Raja Inam Ameen Minhas after the two social media influencers appeared before the IHC following their return to Pakistan from the United Kingdom. This development comes a day after the IHC had granted them protective bail until December 10 to ensure they were not arrested upon their arrival in the country.

Their lawyer informed the court that both Butt and Mubarak had been abroad for several months and were concerned about facing arrest upon landing at Islamabad International Airport. He highlighted that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other departments had registered multiple cases against them, but under the law, the petitioners were entitled to seek relief from the court before any potential arrest.

Following these arguments, the court had approved one-day protective bail and directed that authorities refrain from arresting the petitioners at the airport. The court also instructed Butt and Mubarak to appear before the IHC on December 10 to facilitate the progression of the pending cases.

In the meantime, it was reported that Butt had been deported from the UK due to the cancellation of his visa. However, Butt’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, clarified in a social media post that the YouTuber was not deported but was returning to Pakistan voluntarily.

Both Butt and Mubarak face several FIRs under cybercrime laws, including allegations related to promoting or operating gambling apps, abusing digital platforms, and online harassment. The FIA had previously issued multiple notices, but the duo’s time abroad had prevented significant progress in the investigations.

Butt was booked in September by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for allegedly promoting online gambling apps. Similarly, Mubarak was charged by the NCCIA for the same offense and was also arrested in September for displaying a fake registration number, ‘IK-804’, on his car. When questioned, he failed to explain the use of the number, which is said to correspond to the prisoner number of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Additionally, Butt faced legal issues in March when he was booked under blasphemy and cybercrime laws due to a religious controversy sparked by the launch of his perfume brand. The perfume, named “295,” referenced Pakistan’s blasphemy law, which led to widespread criticism.

Last December, Butt was arrested for unlawfully keeping a lion cub and firearms at his residence. He later pleaded guilty in January for owning an undocumented wild animal, which had been given to him as a wedding gift. To avoid jail time, he agreed to produce animal rights videos for a year.
