ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority on Monday received specialised water rescue equipment from China’s Blue Sky Rescue Foundation in a formal handover ceremony held at CDA headquarters.
The equipment was transferred to strengthen Islamabad’s emergency response capacity, particularly for water-related incidents during the monsoon season.
CDA Member Administration Talaat Mehmood thanked the Chinese foundation for the support, describing the kits as a significant addition to the capital’s disaster management resources. He said the modern equipment would improve response time and enhance public safety during floods and water emergencies.
Representatives of the Blue Sky Rescue Foundation said the organisation would continue working with Pakistani institutions to support lifesaving efforts. The foundation also committed to providing technical training to CDA personnel for effective use of the newly supplied kits.
Senior officers from CDA and Islamabad Emergency Services were present at the ceremony. Officials said the equipment, provided free of cost, would play an important role in handling water rescues and rapid emergency interventions.
CDA officials said the handover follows a training programme conducted in July in which the Chinese foundation trained local staff in high-flow rescue techniques and boat handling.
Both sides also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding in the near future to expand cooperation in training and the provision of modern rescue equipment.
The Blue Sky Rescue Foundation operates in more than 20 countries and specialises in disaster response and humanitarian rescue operations.
The transfer of the equipment comes as Pakistan continues to face recurring risks of floods and flash floods in different regions.
