Naqvi visits Wana Cadet College, reiterates cross-border elements responsible terror attacks

  • Interior Minister hails Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps for rescuing all students and staff safely
  • Condemns attackers as ‘savages with no link to humanity,’ vows continued fight against terrorism
  • Confirms three martyrs in clearance operation during November 10 attack

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday visited the Cadet College in Wana, where a deadly terrorist attack was thwarted earlier this week, and reiterated that elements from “across the border” were responsible for terrorism in Pakistan, emphasizing “We repeatedly told them one thing: terrorism should be stopped. Do not destroy the peace in our country.”

“Several officials from Pakistan—including himself, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Defence Minister Asif Khawaja—had spoken to Afghanistan about the issue of terrorism

During his visit, Naqvi praised the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps for their professionalism in rescuing all students and staff and condemned the attackers as “savages” with no link to humanity.

Addressing tribal elders at the college, the minister said that Pakistan had repeatedly raised the issue of cross-border terrorism with Afghan authorities. “We repeatedly told them one thing: terrorism should be stopped. Do not destroy the peace in our country,” he said, adding that recent attacks—including the Islamabad suicide blast on Tuesday—were orchestrated by foreign elements.

Naqvi emphasised that the country’s economic indicators and international relations were moving in the right direction, but destabilising forces from outside continued to carry out attacks. He also noted that local citizens were not involved in recent terrorist activities.

The Cadet College attack on November 10 saw all students and teachers rescued safely, while three individuals martyred during the clearance operation. According to an interior ministry handout, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Corps (South) Inspector General Major General Mehr Omar Khan welcomed the minister, who met officers, soldiers, students, and faculty members during his visit.

Naqvi announced that the college would be renovated and lauded the bravery of Pakistan Army and FC personnel, stating, “The enemy wanted to execute an Army Public School-like attack, but our brave soldiers foiled the attempt, sending the terrorists to hell and defeating the conspiracy.”

He further condemned the attackers, saying, “These are savages who have no link with humanity. No faith permits targeting children, and these beasts have no religion. Calling them human is an insult to humanity.”

Pakistan has recently witnessed a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In November 2022, the TTP, after breaking a ceasefire deal with the government, vowed to escalate attacks against security forces, police, and other law enforcement personnel.
