NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Armed assailants opened fire on a police checkpost near the Tel River on Wednesday, resulting in the martyrdom of two police personnel, police said.
The martyred officers were identified as Saeed Solangi and Ghulam Hussain Rajpar, who were performing their duties at the Bharyar Road Police Station checkpost. The assailants fled the scene after the attack.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar had earlier placed police across the province, including Karachi, on high alert following the Islamabad suicide blast on Tuesday. He condemned the attack, saying suicide bombers and terrorists have no religion and are enemies of humanity.
The home minister directed intensified security checks and surveillance at all provincial entry and exit points, strict monitoring of major highways, and improved coordination between law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Toll plazas were also ordered to implement stricter security measures.
In related measures, the Sindh government extended Section 144 across the province for another month, prohibiting gatherings of more than five individuals until December 12. The decision, requested by the Inspector General of Sindh, aims to maintain law and order and ensure public safety amid ongoing security concerns.
