Islamabad court remands suspects in mall rape case

ISLAMABAD: A local court on Wednesday remanded two suspects in police custody for three days in connection with an alleged rape case at a private shopping mall in Islamabad.

The suspects, Faisal Jalal and Hafeezullah, were presented before Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas, who granted the remand following a police request for a medical examination and further investigation.

The First Information Report (FIR), filed by the victim, states that the woman had come to Islamabad from her village to seek employment. She had been in contact with a call center via Facebook about a job opportunity and was invited to the mall by Faisal on October 21. Upon arrival, she was met by Hafeezullah, who took her to a flat, where both suspects allegedly assaulted her. The victim also reported being slapped and punched during the incident.

The woman contacted the police through the emergency helpline 15, leading to the suspects’ arrest. Authorities confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, and legal action is being taken against the accused.
