Landslide disrupts highway connection between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Authorities halted traffic on Saturday after a landslide blocked the Zhob Dera Ismail Khan Highway near the Daraband area in Sherani district.

Heavy rainfall over the Suleman Mountain Range caused massive rock and mudslides, which sent debris and boulders onto the highway, making it impassable and halting travel between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Hundreds of vehicles, including passenger coaches, buses, and trucks, were stranded on both sides of the blocked section. Local authorities closed the road for safety and began clearance operations, with teams from the National Highway Authority, Sherani district administration, and local police working to reopen the lanes.

Motorists were advised to avoid the Quetta Zhob Dera Ismail Khan Highway until the road is cleared and reopened. Authorities urged travelers to stay updated on diversions and safety information.
