Pakistan warns of ‘swift and resolute’ response to any Indian aggression: ISPR

  • ISPR cautions New Delhi that any misadventure will draw a ‘response remembered by posterity’
  • Accuses India of fabricating pre-election propaganda, attempting to ‘rewrite history’ after Maarka-e-Haq
  • Warns jingoism and chest-thumping could endanger peace and stability in South Asia

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan on Wednesday expressed deep concern over what it described as India’s “provocative rhetoric,” warning that any act of aggression would draw a “swift, resolute and intense response that will be remembered by posterity.”

In a strongly worded statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the people and armed forces of Pakistan were “fully capable and committed to defending every inch of their territory with complete resolve.”

The military’s media wing noted with “grave concern” that India’s military leadership had resumed “delusional, fabricated and provocative propaganda” ahead of the state elections in Bihar and West Bengal, five months after what it termed Maarka-e-Haq.

“It is saddening to see the military leadership of a nuclear-armed country issuing irresponsible statements under immense political pressure,” the ISPR said. “The lies being fed to the Indian public and international audience have turned the Indian military machine into a laughing stock.”

The statement cautioned that such “unnecessary chest-thumping and jingoism” could endanger regional peace and stability, warning that the consequences of reckless rhetoric in a nuclearized environment could be serious.

The ISPR accused India’s political and military leadership of attempting to “rewrite history by inventing outlandish, Bollywood-style scripts,” and said the Indian establishment appeared unable to reconcile with what it called “its defeat in Maarka-e-Haq.”

“Their falsehoods have been fully exposed,” it said, adding that the world had begun to recognize India as “the true face of cross-border terrorism and the epicenter of regional instability,” pursuing “adventurism and hegemonism to the detriment of its people and neighbours.”

The statement further maintained that Pakistan’s commitment to peace must not be mistaken for weakness, stressing that any misadventure would be met with a forceful military response.

Background

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours have periodically spiked over Kashmir and allegations of cross-border attacks. In recent years, Islamabad has repeatedly condemned Indian leaders’ “warmongering statements” and “false flag operations,” particularly during India’s election cycles. Pakistani officials have often accused New Delhi of using anti-Pakistan narratives to divert domestic attention from internal political and economic challenges.

Relations between Islamabad and New Delhi have remained strained since India’s 2019 revocation of occupied Kashmir’s special constitutional status—a move Pakistan continues to reject as illegal and unilateral.
