ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunications Limited (PTCL) has announced that internet services across the country may experience significant disruptions on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. The company is conducting maintenance on a submarine cable, which includes repairing a faulty repeater in the undersea cable system. The maintenance is scheduled to commence at approximately 11:00 AM Pakistan Standard Time and could last up to 18 hours.
During this period, users may encounter slower internet speeds and degraded connectivity. PTCL has acknowledged that customers might face service degradation and has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.
Reports from internet monitoring service Downdetector indicate that users have already started experiencing difficulties accessing popular social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The platform’s data shows a spike in user complaints about outages over the past 24 hours.
This maintenance activity follows a similar incident last month when PTCL warned of potential disruptions due to cable cuts in Saudi waters affecting connectivity during peak hours.
PTCL has assured customers that efforts are underway to restore normal service as quickly as possible and has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the ongoing maintenance.
