Pakistan braces for colder months as La Niña strengthens

Climate experts have warned that Pakistan is likely to face a much colder winter this year due to the La Niña weather pattern. The phenomenon is expected to bring stronger winds, heavy frost, and more snowfall over the next few months.

Environmental expert Dr Pervaiz Amir said this winter could be harsher than usual and urged people and authorities to prepare early. He stressed the need to protect vulnerable communities, ensure enough energy supplies, and secure food and crops before temperatures drop further.

Farmers have been advised to plant strong, cold-resistant varieties of wheat, sugarcane, and fodder. Dr Amir also called on officials to make sure heating and electricity remain available, especially in northern and rural areas.

He explained that climate change is making extreme and unpredictable weather more common, and La Niña is another sign of how global warming is disrupting normal weather patterns.
