LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday chaired a three-hour-long video link meeting of commissioners and deputy commissioners, reviewing their key performance indicators (KPIs) that now include the maintenance of electric buses, flood survey transparency, civic discipline, and public service delivery across districts.
Presiding over the detailed session, CM Maryam underscored that the upkeep, maintenance, and operational discipline of electric buses—along with passenger facilities—had been included in the KPIs of respective deputy commissioners. She directed the establishment of dedicated bus stands for electric buses at every stop to ensure smooth service and better management.
The chief minister stressed that ensuring transparent and swift flood surveys in affected areas was another critical KPI for district administrations. She directed deputy commissioners to personally monitor the flood survey campaign and ensure authentic data collection, warning that any negligence or manipulation would not be tolerated.
Turning to agriculture, Maryam Nawaz ordered the cultivation of wheat on all available government-owned agricultural land across Punjab. She instructed the Agriculture Department to provide high-quality wheat seeds for the purpose, saying the initiative would help improve provincial grain output and strengthen food security.
Expressing concern over recurring incidents of stray dog bites, the CM said such attacks were “absolutely unacceptable,” especially when children were involved. “Why are stray dog bite incidents happening again and again? Immediate attention must be paid,” she said, directing officials to adopt effective measures to eliminate the risk.
To ensure student safety near schools, she instructed that zebra crossings be marked in front of all government schools and speed reduction boards installed before both government and private institutions.
The chief minister also ordered the monitoring, maintenance, and repair of over 5,000 water filtration plants across Punjab to ensure uninterrupted clean drinking water supply. Commissioners and deputy commissioners were directed to make surprise visits to hospitals to verify the availability of free medicines and take strict action against anyone illegally demanding money for public services.
CM Maryam Nawaz further instructed authorities to enforce the official bread price list across the province and ensure compliance through regular inspections.
Reviewing the provincial cleanliness campaign, the CM appreciated the performance of ‘Suthra Punjab’ teams, saying they were doing commendable work, but stressed that any shortcomings or workforce shortages must be addressed immediately. She approved the recruitment of additional sanitation workers, emphasizing that there would be “no compromise on the cleanliness of cities and villages, nor will negligence be tolerated.”
At the conclusion of the review, CM Maryam congratulated commissioners and deputy commissioners who performed well on their KPI scorecards and urged others to improve their rankings through proactive fieldwork and citizen-focused governance.
“Performance must reflect on the ground, not just on paper,” she remarked, reiterating her administration’s focus on transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
