Prince William’s early relationship that shaped his future, before he met Kate Middleton

Before Kate Middleton, Prince William shared a brief but notable romance with Rose Farquhar, one of the lesser-known figures in his past. Their relationship began in 2000, during the final years of his time at Eton College, but it was short-lived. Despite the end of their romance, William and Farquhar have maintained a close friendship over the years.

The two first met at the Beaufort Polo Club in Gloucestershire, an area linked to Rose’s father’s involvement in the Beaufort hunt. Their connection deepened quickly, but things started to drift apart when William moved to the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he met Kate Middleton.

After the breakup, Rose focused on her passion for music. In 2006, she participated in the TV competition How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, reaching the top 16 but not making it to the production of The Sound of Music in the West End. Ten years later, she competed on The Voice UK, but did not make it past the early stages.

Though their romantic relationship ended long ago, Rose and William continue to enjoy a strong friendship. They are often seen together at social events within the British aristocracy, where their bond remains evident.
