Pakistani crew stranded after attack on LPG ship in Yemen

A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) ship carrying cargo from Iran’s Bandar Abbas port to Yemen was attacked, leaving its Pakistani crew stranded in Yemen. Diplomatic sources confirmed the attack on Friday, noting that the vessel’s captain and all 24 crew members are Pakistani nationals. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported among the crew.

The attack occurred 10 days ago at a Yemeni port, when the ship was targeted by a drone strike. Since then, the ship, which was carrying LPG meant for offloading at the port, has remained stuck in the region. The captain has requested permission to sail to Djibouti, with the crew awaiting assistance from Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Director General of Ports.

The situation is complicated by the presence of Houthi fighters on the vessel, who, according to the crew, are preventing them from disembarking. The ship is not in an area under the control of the Yemeni government, but Pakistan is actively working to secure the safe return of its citizens on board.
