Indonesia has announced plans to send over 20,000 peacekeepers to the Gaza Strip as part of its commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region. The announcement was made by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during his address at the United Nations General Assembly.
President Subianto emphasized that Indonesia has a long-standing tradition of contributing to UN peacekeeping missions and expressed the country’s readiness to deploy peacekeepers not only to Gaza but also to any region where the UN Security Council or the General Assembly deems necessary.
In his speech, the Indonesian president also reaffirmed strong support for the creation of an independent Palestinian state. However, he emphasized that peace between Israel and Palestine can only be achieved with security guarantees for Israel, advocating for mutual security and recognition as essential to lasting peace.
Meanwhile, reports from US media suggest that the United States is encouraging Arab and Muslim countries to participate in peacekeeping efforts in Gaza. The aim is to facilitate Israel’s withdrawal while ensuring the restoration of peace and stability in the region. The US has also called for these nations to contribute to funding the transfer of power in Palestine and the subsequent reconstruction efforts.
