Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming shares shciking update on his health amid dementia battle

Emma Heming recently shared an emotional update on social media, revealing that her book, The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path, reached #2 on The New York Times Bestseller list, just days after its release.

“I’m still trying to process it. I’m truly in shock and so deeply grateful,” she shared, expressing her gratitude to her supporters. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My hope now is that this book cares for you, the way you’ve cared for me.”

During her book tour, Emma recounted an emotional memory about her husband, Bruce Willis, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023. “Bruce was an avid reader, he loved bookstores, and his favorite section of The New York Times was the book section because he loved looking at the bestseller list,” she shared, tearing up. “And what I learned today is that The Unexpected Journey made that list, and it came in at number two. And all I could think of was that Bruce would be so proud.”

Emma thanked her fans and collaborators, with support pouring in from family and fans. Bruce’s daughter, Tallulah Willis, wrote, “Love you so so so much. He is so proud.” Fans echoed this sentiment, with one noting, “He will understand in his own way when you show him.”

Bruce, initially diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, later received the frontotemporal dementia diagnosis, which affects communication, empathy, and movement. Emma has previously admitted that she considered divorce due to Bruce’s personality changes. “Our values just didn’t seem to be matching anymore,” she explained in an interview on The Oprah Podcast.

The lack of support she felt from medical professionals after Bruce’s diagnosis inspired her to write her book. The Unexpected Journey aims to guide caregivers through the emotional toll of illness while encouraging them to care for themselves.

Emma’s biggest support has come from Bruce’s daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, as well as his ex-wife, Demi Moore. Despite their 2000 divorce, Demi has remained a close friend, even attending Emma and Bruce’s wedding in 2009, and has been a strong presence throughout Bruce’s health journey.
