Mahrang’s remand extended by anti-terrorism court

QUETTA: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta extended the remand of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) chief Mahrang Baloch and other members of the group to police custody for 20 more days on Saturday.

Mahrang, along with other BYC members, was previously detained in March for allegedly attacking Quetta Civil Hospital and inciting public unrest after a police crackdown during a protest against alleged enforced disappearances.

Currently, Mahrang is being held at Hudda District Prison in Quetta under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance, which permits the detention of individuals considered a threat to public peace.
