Security forces kill five Khawarij in KP operations: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed five suspected terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The operations, conducted on June 15 and 16, targeted militants allegedly backed by Indian interests, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The first operation took place in Peshawar district, where security forces surrounded a militant hideout and engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle. Four militants, identified as Haris and Baseer among others, were killed in the exchange of fire. In a second operation in North Waziristan, another terrorist was killed during a brief gunfight.

The ISPR confirmed that weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the terrorists, who were believed to have been involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region. Sanitisation operations are currently underway in the affected areas to eliminate any remaining threats.

The military has reassured the public that no security personnel were injured during the operations and reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism in all its forms.
