Crackdown on illegal parking launched across Karachi

KARACHI: In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion and improve flow across the city, a large-scale operation has been launched under the directives of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The initiative aims to eliminate illegal parking spaces that have long contributed to Karachi’s traffic problems.

As part of the operation, all forms of parking have been banned along II Chundrigar Road, from Shaheen Complex to Merewether Tower, as well as on Muhammad Bin Qasim Road up to Dr Ziauddin Road, extending to SM Law College. Additionally, parking on sidewalks or roadways has been prohibited citywide.

The Chief Minister has ordered strict enforcement of these regulations, warning that violators will face severe legal action. Citizens have been directed to use Railway Ground as a designated parking facility.

In a related move, traffic police have been instructed to crack down on vehicles with unauthorized number plates or those without proper registration. The new policy mandates that only government-standard number plates will be considered valid. Karachi Traffic Police are implementing a zero-tolerance policy, and legal action will be taken against illegal parking lots and violators of traffic regulations.
