ISLAMABAD: The higher education sector has been recognized as one of the most crucial sectors for Pakistan’s national development, contributing significantly to producing a skilled workforce that enhances productivity and boosts industrial exports.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb highlighted the government’s dedication to strengthening the sector during his budget speech, announcing a significant allocation of PKR 39.5 billion for the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
This funding will support 170 ongoing and new projects, with PKR 38.5 billion earmarked for completing existing schemes on schedule.
The government also emphasized its focus on empowering differently-abled students through the Prime Minister’s Special Initiative, which includes providing electric wheelchairs, customized laptops, and audio-visual aids to help them overcome physical challenges and pursue academic success.
The Finance Minister stressed that these investments in higher education infrastructure would not only enhance educational facilities but also contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth by producing a highly skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and improving export potential.
The government’s continued emphasis on education is positioned as a key pillar of national progress, ensuring the youth are equipped with the tools needed to compete in the global economy.
