Nawaz Sharif departs for London for medical check-up and Eid celebrations

LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif flew to London on Sunday aboard a special plane for a two-week visit. According to family sources, Nawaz will celebrate Eidul Azha with his sons in the UK and undergo a medical examination during his stay.

This is Nawaz's first visit to London in seven months. Originally, he had planned to spend Ramazan in Saudi Arabia but canceled the trip on medical advice. Nawaz previously lived in London from October 2019 to October 2023 in what was seen as a self-imposed exile. Upon his return to Pakistan, after the formation of a PML-N-led coalition government, Nawaz was acquitted of corruption charges.
