ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm stance against Indian dominance in South Asia, emphasizing that Islamabad will never accept Indian hegemony. Speaking at ‘Hilal Talks’ with academics and vice chancellors, he highlighted Kashmir and water security as key national issues.
He described water as Pakistan’s “red line,” warning against any compromise on the basic rights of 240 million Pakistanis. The remarks follow India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, which governs shared river resources.
Field Marshal Munir condemned India’s recent missile strikes inside Pakistan and lauded Pakistan’s military response during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, part of the broader Marka-e-Haq campaign. He said the confrontation showed that united nations cannot be defeated.
Addressing Kashmir, he said the global community can no longer ignore the issue after India revoked the region’s autonomy in 2019. “Pakistan will never abandon Kashmir,” he stated, dismissing India’s terrorism accusations as attempts to deflect from internal oppression.
The army chief also accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Balochistan, calling militant groups there proxies of foreign interference. He urged national unity, institutional integrity, and constitutional governance, praising educators for shaping Pakistan’s future.
The session ended with attendees pledging support for the armed forces and Pakistan’s sovereignty.
