QUETTA: The death toll from the Khuzdar bus blast has risen to eight after two more female students, Shema Ibrahim and Muskan, passed away in the hospital on Sunday. They had been battling for life for four days after the suicide attack on May 21, 2025.
The blast occurred when a school bus carrying students to Army Public School in Khuzdar Cantonment was targeted near Zero Point on the Quetta-Karachi highway. The attack killed five people, including three female students, and injured 43 others.
In response to the attack, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed their commitment to combating terrorism, blaming Indian-backed militants for the attack. The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement, accusing “Indian-sponsored proxies” of carrying out the bombing, and vowed to hold the perpetrators accountable.
The Pakistan military leadership reiterated their resolve to dismantle all Indian-backed terrorist proxies operating in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing that the nation would never compromise on its peace in the face of externally sponsored terrorism.
The army stressed that Pakistan’s armed forces, in coordination with intelligence and law enforcement agencies, would pursue and eliminate these hostile elements with full national resolve.
