ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding regional cooperation during a high-level meeting with Turkish Ambassador Dr Irfan Nezırioğlu in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The two leaders discussed evolving political and strategic developments in South and Central Asia, placing particular emphasis on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation through regional forums such as the Kazan Forum.
Minister Khan expressed deep appreciation for the time-tested friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye, describing it as a “partnership rooted in trust, mutual respect, and shared values.” He lauded the Pakistani armed forces for their recent successes, stating: “Allah Almighty has granted Pakistan success through the bravery and sacrifices of our forces.”
He emphasized Pakistan’s desire to play a proactive and constructive role in promoting peace and cooperation across the region, particularly in trade, communications, and strategic dialogue.
Ambassador Nezırioğlu congratulated Pakistan on its recent military and diplomatic successes, praising its defense preparedness and firm response to Indian aggression. “The friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan is unparalleled,” the ambassador remarked, underscoring the strong bond between the peoples of both countries.
Both sides discussed avenues for enhanced collaboration through the upcoming Kazan Forum, a major regional platform aimed at deepening economic integration, trade linkages, and cultural exchange among Eurasian nations.
Minister Khan highlighted Pakistan’s interest in inviting other countries to participate in regional trade corridors being developed under the forum’s framework, stressing the importance of inclusive economic cooperation.
In response, Ambassador Nezırioğlu reaffirmed Ankara’s unwavering support for Islamabad. “We stand firmly with Pakistan and will continue to support its efforts at the international level,” he said.
The meeting concluded on a note of mutual resolve to broaden strategic cooperation and explore new opportunities for economic and diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Türkiye.
