Punjab CM declares state of emergency, praises PAF for downing Indian jets

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has declared a state of emergency across the province in response to India’s recent aggression, emphasizing national unity and resolve. During a visit to pay tribute to those martyred in the attacks, she expressed Pakistan’s commitment to defend its sovereignty, calling India’s actions cowardly and a violation of peace.

The CM issued orders for all security agencies, including police and medical staff, to remain on high alert, and instructed all relevant institutions to resume full operations. She also urged the public to remain cautious, follow civil defense instructions, and report any emergencies.

Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its role in shooting down five Indian fighter jets, asserting that India’s arrogance and false propaganda had been shattered. She emphasized that Pakistan desires peace but would not compromise on its defense.

In a separate statement, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan condemned India’s actions, calling it a “state sponsor of terrorism” and accusing it of attempting to destabilize Pakistan. Despite these tensions, he highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to peaceful cooperation with international partners, including Finland.
