Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sets up emergency shelters, hospitals on high alert

PESHAWAR: In response to rising tensions with India, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has established emergency relief shelters in 62 schools across the Swabi and Haripur districts. This precautionary move aims to ensure public safety amid the ongoing security crisis. A total of 40 schools in Swabi and 22 in Haripur have been designated as emergency shelters, with the district education officers working in coordination with local authorities.

In addition, the Education Department has imposed a ban on all events and activities in both public and private educational institutions, including sports events, to maintain order and safety. Civil defense training will be initiated for students to prepare them for emergencies.

Meanwhile, the Health Department has issued a red alert across all hospitals in the province, canceling leaves for medical staff and ensuring hospitals are ready to handle mass casualties. Emergency plans have been activated, and hospitals are reviewing medical supplies and staff readiness.

Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and follow civil defense instructions as part of the ongoing efforts to safeguard the population.
