Islamabad Denies Delhi’s Claims of Targeting 15 Sites in India, Calls It a ‘Fabricated Story’

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, addressed a press conference on May 8 alongside Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, providing a detailed account of a provocative incident involving India.

Dar categorically denied any action from Pakistan that would jeopardize civilians in Indian Punjab, emphasizing that Pakistan had no intention to harm innocent populations. He revealed that India had launched a highly provocative attack in the early hours of May 8, when three projectiles were dropped in Amritsar, a major city in Indian Punjab. Dar described the incident as “deeply insidious and sinister,” indicating that the projectiles were deliberately launched at Pakistani territory.

According to Dar, the fourth projectile, which strayed into Pakistan’s airspace, was swiftly neutralized by Pakistan’s air defense system. The Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s stance on peace and its commitment to protecting its sovereignty and civilian lives.

In his comments, DG ISPR Lt Gen Chaudhry dismissed India’s accusations, calling them part of a “phantom defense” strategy. He compared the current situation to India’s previous claims of a “phantom strike” after the Uri attack in 2016, which had no evidence on the ground but was later used to justify aggressive military claims.

Lt Gen Chaudhry also remarked on India’s repeated use of unsubstantiated narratives, dismissing them as fabricated justifications for their own actions. He pointed to the lack of real evidence behind India’s claims, reinforcing Pakistan’s position that it remains committed to peace and stability in the region.

This latest exchange underscores the rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, with both sides engaged in a war of words and military posturing. While Pakistan insists on de-escalation, the situation remains precarious with both nations showing a readiness to defend their territorial integrity.
