— Tempers fray on twitter at Maryam’s tweet on Arshad Sharif’s murder
ISLAMABAD: PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Tuesday apologised for an insensitive tweet she wrote earlier today regarding slain Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, who was shot dead under mysterious circumstances in Nairobi, Kenya.
Taking to Twitter again, Maryam wrote an apologetic tweet that read: “My tweet was NOT aimed at mocking someone but about learning our lessons from the past. I am undoing the tweet & apologise for the hurt it may have caused to the aggrieved which never was my intention.”
Maryam further extended her condolences to the “bereaved family” stating “May no one ever have to go through this pain”.
A day after the gruesome killing of renowned journalist Arshad Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s “vengeful” tweet has left many bewildered and angry on social media.
However, Tweeps were not ready to accept the ‘halfhearted’ apology.
Mir Mohammad Ali Khan, famous economic wizard, wrote that if every apology is accepted, there would be no hell for sinners.

veteran journalist Haroon Rashid wrote that Allah may never enable this woman to rule Pakistan, else this country would not be for living for common people.

The journalist and his driver allegedly breached a roadblock that had been set up to check on motor vehicles using the route, where there was a call for police to intercept a car similar to the one they were driving following a carjacking incident in Pangani area, Nairobi where a child was taken hostage.

Further details are expected to emerge as the Independent Policing Oversight Authority investigates the case.
However, a retweet by Maryam Nawaz left many on social media with anger, calling it in bad taste.
“I don’t feel good RTing this but this is a lesson for the mankind that we must all imbibe,” the PML-N leader wrote along with a tweet and a photo of Arshad Sharif’s coffin.
The original tweet, retweeted by Maryam, claimed that the anchorperson used to say Nawaz Sharif had sent her mother in a parcel, saying that he used to make fun of other people’s death and now his time had come.
This ignited a fierce response from the netizens who condemned the statement and refuted the claim.
