Four Muslims tortured to death in police custody in West Bengal

KOLKATA: Four Muslim men died in judicial custody in the last 10 days in the Indian state West Bengal.

The victim Abdul Rajjak, Jiyaul Laskar, Akbar Khan and Saidul Munsi who were arrested by the West Bengal police in separate cases in last week of July were killed in police custody in Baruipur police station in Parganas district of the state.

The families of the four victims have said that these men were tortured to death by the police.

The lawyers of the victims said that their clients were subjected to severe torture before they died and demanded an independent probe into the deaths.

HINDUTVA MOB LYNCHES MUSLIM MAN IN BIHAR

A Hindutva mob lynched a 35-year-old Muslim man to death in the Indian state of Bihar. The members of Hindu communal group beat Mohammad Mustaqim to death at Chakhabi in Samastipur district of the state while three other men accompanying him managed to run away.

The incident came to light after a video of the lynching went viral, prompting the police to deploy additional forces in Chakhabi area.

The police said Mohammad Mustaqim, a resident of Begusarai, died during treatment and that three other men accompanying him managed to run away from the spot.
