The legal fraternity has called a joint meeting of its bar councils on Wednesday in the wake of the “growing political unrest” in the country, a news outlet reported on Saturday.
According to the report, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Vice Chairman Hafeezur Rehman Chaudhry have decided to convene a joint meeting of representative bodies of federal and provincial bar councils as well as the high court associations.
The meeting will discuss the prevailing political situation and devise a strategy to protect and strengthen the constitutional and democratic system of the country.
Invitations have been sent to all bar councils and high court bar associations at the federal and provincial level. The office-bearers of the said bar councils and bar associations have also been requested to ensure their presence in the larger interest of the Constitution of Pakistan and the democratic process.
