A ten years old boy was subjected to sexual assault and harrasment by a retired school teacher in the locality of Thari mirwah a few days ago. FIR against the alleged Teacher has been lodged under section 377 of Pakistan Penal Code that amounts to 10 year punishment for commiting unnatural offence, The same FIR could have been lodged under section 377-B which amounts to 14 years imprisonment as it can be viewed that it is an attempt made by police for weakening the case and facilitating the felon. In addition to it the offender enjoys political influence in the area and that factor would also leave impact on the proceedings of the case. This is not the first incident of its kind as these types of incidents keep occuring in Sindh and across the country. Approximately 358 children-252 boys and 106 girls have been molested within the span of five years. A research disclosed awful figures apropos to child abuse in Pakistan, Boys falling within the age group of 10 to 15 years while girls falling within the age group of 8 to 18 years are found more vulnerable in Pakistan. This act of ferociousness was not committed by a serial criminal but by a teacher and this fact is nerve-racking for every right-thinking citizen of this country apart from it harassment cases are usually reported from different educational institutions and seminaries, all this is dragging us towards an incessant disaster. The government of the time should take the plunge for wiping out this malady from our country.
