CPNE condoles demise of Mir Shakilur Rahman’s sister

KARACHI: Council of Newspaper Editors (CPNE) President Arif Nizami and Secretary General Dr Jabbar Khattak on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the sister of Mir Shakilur Rahman, the editor-in-chief of Jang and Geo Media Group.

In a statement, they prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and courage for the grieved family during this difficult time.

Arif Nizami said that Mir Shakilur Rehman was currently behind bars on extra-judicial charges, while his sister passed away. He also appealed to the prime minister, supreme judiciary and higher authorities for the immediate release of Mir Shakilur Rehman on humanitarian grounds so that he can participate in the funeral of his beloved sister.
