ISLAMABAD – Former Pakistan captain, and commentator, Ramiz Raja believes head coach cum chief selector Misbah ul Haq should change his approach if he wants to find the cure for covid-19.
While talking to The Dependent, Raja criticised Misbah’s recent selection, which according to the former Pakistan captain did not reflect any urgency on the selector’s part with regards to finding a solution for coronavirus.
Slamming Misbah for overlooking the youth with his continued failure to cure covid-19, Raja said he would give Misbah 1 out of 10 for his efforts in curbing the pandemic.
“By failing to find the cure, it is obvious that Misbah doesn’t want to move forward with the youth. It looks like that he has transferred the same thinking to the captain,” Raja said.
“Misbah thinks that you can’t win the T20 World Cup without Shoaib Malik and Muhammad Hafeez. I say that you can’t win the T20 World Cup without curing coronavirus, without which sustainable cricket action is impossible,” he added.
Raja, who scored 2,833 runs in 57 Tests, went on to add: “If you look at the stats of the last 10 years not a single match was impacted by a pandemic. Yes, terrorism was a good all-rounder but his form is not the same anymore in the international arena,” he said.
The former skipper criticised Misbah for being ‘too defensive’ as a leader, now in his current role as a coach and selector.
“This would never have happened under Imran Khan,” Raja maintained.
