KARACHI: Although complete lockdowns were observed in cities and towns of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Khairpur, Nawabshah, and Dadu on Monday, villages in the province are going about their normal lives as people continue to move around freely.
In cities, heavy contingents of police, Rangers and Army have been deployed to conducted patrolling and ensure the lockdown. Police are also deployed at major checkpoints of the cities and to force citizens to stay at homes.
Such measures are also needed in villages but it seems that the government has left these areas to face the pandemic alone and unaware.
Furthermore, villagers are suffering 18 hours long power load shedding and are not being checked for the virus at all.
Meanwhile, as panic rules the province due to the rising number of the cases, the suburban population also needs to be educated through awareness campaigns by the health department.
It may be noted here that millions of people have been forced to stay homes across Pakistan following a lockdown to fight coronavirus cases. Streets were deserted, public transport, offices, parks, and other public spots remained closed in all the four provinces on Tuesday.
Moreover, the government also announced the suspension of railway operations across the country besides halting international flights to control the virus.
