CM releases Rs580m to feed daily wagers

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday released Rs580 million to provide ration to daily wagers and other needy people all over the province.

He was presiding over a meeting of the Sindh Home Department here at the CM House. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Additional Chief Secretary Home Usman Chachar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister (PSCM) Sajid Jamal Abro and Inspector General (IG) Prisons Nusrat Mangan.

The chief minister also decided to provide Rs20 million to every district for the distribution of ration amongst poor people, particularly those who earn their bread and butter on a daily basis so that they could afford square meals and other minor unavoidable expenditures.

Shah has ALSO constituted a committee under Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh to prepare a mechanism to distribute the ration and provide cash to the daily wagers. The committee is scheduled to finalise its recommendation by tomorrow evening.

It may be noted here that welfare organisations are working with the Sindh government to provide ration to the common man in different areas.
