Pakistan’s handicrafts capable of attracting huge foreign exchange reserves: Chinese ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing on Sunday said that Pakistan had a rich culture and history whereas the handicrafts developed by Pakistani artisans could attract huge foreign exchange reserves.

He expressed these views while addressing the participants at the inauguration ceremony of the Pakistan Craft Exhibition held here at the Chinese embassy premises.

The event was co-hosted by Chinese Embassy and Handicraft Association of Pakistan which was largely attended by members of the diplomatic corps.

Top local artisans and traditional handicraft companies exhibited handicrafts at one of the most tangible manifestations of the intangible cultural heritage of Pakistan.

Jing said that the Chinese embassy would work with the government of Pakistan in protecting and showcasing the skills of Pakistan’s traditional crafts. He said the show projected a glimpse of Pakistan and its rich cultural heritage and skills. He said it is an opportunity for the members of diplomatic corps to learn and understand the rich culture and history of Pakistan.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Khan Swati said that the handicraft exhibition would showcase the rich culture and history of our people for the world. “This would help boost our soft image for the world and add to the entrepreneurship. It’s the impact of the respect and love you take out of Pakistan for the whole world,” he added.
