RAWALPINDI: Two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in Indian ceasefire violations in Dewa Sector along the Line of Control (LoC), Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
In a tweet, ISPR Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor identified the martyred soldiers as Naib Subedar Kandero and Sepoy Ehsan.
According to ISPR, in response to continuous cross-border ceasefire violations during the past 36 hours, Pakistan troops damaged Indian posts in Haji Pir Sector and killed three Indian soldiers. Additionally, a few had also been injured.
Indian and Pakistani troops had been exchanging fire across the restive border, with casualties caused on both sides. On Saturday, the military’s media wing had reported that the Indian army suffered heavy casualties and damage to its posts when the Pakistan Army responded to ceasefire violations from across the dividing line.
On Sunday, Indian and Pakistani troops had exchanged fire in some areas along the LoC but no casualties were reported from anywhere.
The following day, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the LoC in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where he had said that the armed forces are “fully prepared to thwart any misadventure” or aggression for the country’s defense.
Separately, Special Assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the special package announced by the federal cabinet under the government’s flagship Ehsas Program will be beneficial for families living along the LoC.
“The government will give five thousand rupees to every married woman of 33,498 families for one year on a quarterly basis apart from providing relief through ration scheme under the Ehsas scheme,” she said in a series of tweets.
