KARACHI: Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Karachi on December 27 to assuage the concerns of party lawmakers and allies concerning the treatment meted out to the city by the federal government.

According to reports, the PM would meet the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Inaf (PTI) elected representatives at the Governor House who were not happy with the attitude of the central government to the issues of Karachi.

“The PM is expected that some big schemes are announced for the uplift of the megacity,” claimed party sources.

On Friday, the lawmakers from Karachi called on the premier. Talking to the PTI MNAs, the PM had said Karachi was the economic hub of the country, and its progress was the progress of the country. He had said the progress and prosperity of Karachi are among the top priorities of the federal government.

He had said after achieving economic stability, the government was focused on resolving issues of the people including inflation and provision of job opportunities, while special attention was being paid to bring prices of essential commodities under control.

Imran had said the private sector and business community were being facilitated for the generation of employment opportunities for the youth. He said acceleration in the industrial process and expeditious progress in various development projects will provide jobs to the youth. The prime minister called on the elected members to remain in contact with people so that practicable proposals could be implemented for the resolution of their problems.
