LAHORE: Pakistan Kissan Movement President Hanif Gujjar has said that Rahim Yar Khan mills have started to monopolise the purchase of sugarcane crop through district administration of Punjab govt.
Gujjar claimed that the district administration has started arresting and harassing sugarcane buyers who are being given better rates to farmers so that they can get the cane at a minimum price below the Punjab govt’s fixed price of Rs190. The sugar mills which are running in Rahim Yar Khan district still want to buy cane at Rs180/- to Rs185/-. District administration has ordered the people who had come from outside of district Rahim Yar Khan not to buy cane otherwise they would be arrested, he added.
