LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz will approach the Lahore High Court (LHC) today to seek pre-arrest bail in a case pertaining to accumulating assets beyond declared sources of income.
A two-judge bench headed by Justice Malik Bashir Ahmed Khan will hear the bail plea.
Anticipating the presence of party workers, foolproof security arrangements have been made around the court premises. Reportedly, over 500 policemen have been deployed to maintain law and order situation.
Earlier, the accountability bureau conducted two successive raids on the Model Town residence of the opposition leader on Friday and Saturday. However, the anti-theft team could not detain him.
The LHC, on Saturday, barred the bureau from arresting the lawmaker till April 8. LHC chief justice ordered the bureau to stay away from Hamza till Monday after the lawmaker pleaded the court through his counsel Amjad Pervaiz.
