DG ISPR negates claims of Pak Army chief approaching Indian counterpart for talks

RAWALPINDI: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General (DG) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Thursday rejected reports by the Hindustan Times claiming that the Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had approached his Indian counterpart for talks.

Taking to micro-blogging website Twitter, the DG ISPR said that the reports were baseless. “Hindustan Times reports that Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa had approached Indian COAS for talks and that both had served together in Congo. Story is factually incorrect,” he tweeted.

“The COAS has neither approached Indian COAS nor has served with him in Congo. Decision for talks is prerogative of both the government,” he added.
