ISLAMABAD: Former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for protective bail ahead of his appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Oct 16.
The anti-graft watchdog is investigating the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader for his alleged involvement in the Paragon Housing Society scandal. Rafique has appeared before NAB a number of times in this regard.
In his petition, Rafique said that on March 28 this year, he submitted documents to a notice issued to him over the matter within a week. He further outlined in his plea that he provided additional documents on April 5 as well.
The former minister denied he was a director or shareholder in the housing scheme.
“If arrest warrants are issued then I should be given two weeks,” he said, urging the court to direct NAB not to arrest him for two weeks.
Earlier, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif was arrested by NAB in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing scandal last week.
